The combination of ecology and economy is of central importance in the bioeconomy. Self-reinforced fibre composites are very easy to recycle due to their monomaterial design. Approaches for the production of self-reinforced biopolymers on a laboratory scale are the starting point of the present work. Within the scope of the dissertation, an economic process chain for the industrial production of a self-reinforced reinforced biopolymer was developed for the first time. The present work is essentially divided into three parts: the selection of biopolymers and manufacturing process, the development and scaling of the laboratory-scale processes and the economic analysis.
